Valerie Ann Bectel, age 85, passed away Friday, July 29, 2022. She was born in Muskegon, MI on September 16, 1936 to David & Ethel (Stark) Johnson and married Jerry Bectel on December 18, 1954. Valerie was a 1954 graduate of Muskegon High School and a lifelong member of Samuel Lutheran Church. In her earlier years she had worked as Legal Secretary for Attorney John Olsen. Valerie was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who dedicated her life to her family. She was a marvelous seamstress, cook, maker of afghans, and the ultimate supporter of all of her children's and grandchildren's activities. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Husband, Jerry; daughter Vickie Bectel-Clock, 3 sons, Garry (Barb) Bectel, Larry (Teri) Bectel, Mike (Barbie) Bectel; 12 grandchildren, Brandon Bectel, Liz (Seth) Kitchka, Kristina Bectel-Videtich, Laura (Jared) Schulte, Jeremy (Stephanie) Bectel, Cory (Tammy) Bectel, Brandy Bectel, Rachel (Greg) Lenger, Kaley (Mark Currlin) Bectel, Christy Bectel, Leah Bectel, Kellie (Eddie Lewis) Clock; 15 great-grandchildren, Ethan, Evelyn, Garrett, Charlotte, Dylan, Kara, Cayden, Abbie, Kinley, Wyatt, Keira, Amelia, Liam, Jamison, Isaiah; many nieces and nephews. Valerie was preceded in death by her siblings Phyllis Grams, Ronald Johnson, R. David Johnson, Leroy Johnson, Harvey Johnson and a great granddaughter Emily.
