Joan Gayle Leder, age 91, passed away Monday, February 7, 2022. She was born in Muskegon, MI on November 26, 1930 to John & Hazel (Cashbaugh) Hutchison and married Arnold Leder on April 16, 1953. Joan was a lifetime member of First Congregational Church, where she served on various church boards, as past president of the Women's Fellowship, and was a member of Circle 15 and of the Motet and Bell choirs. She was a past president of the Muskegon Woman's Club, a member of PEO Chapters Y and DS, and a former member of Hackley Hospital Cherry Guild. Joan was also involved in many civic affairs, particularly the Muskegon High School Band Parents. She was named 1983 Muskegon Mother of the Year. She and Arnold enjoyed traveling and spent five winters on the Costa del Sol in Spain. Joan loved the arts and music and especially enjoyed playing her piano. A true caretaker by nature, she gave up a college education to take care of her ailing parents and spent 10 years taking care of her husband before his death. Last year more than 150 attended a 90th birthday party she hosted at her home. Joan will be deeply missed by a host of friends and her family.

5 sons, Arnold (Linda) Leder II of IL, Robert Leder of Lansing, John Leder of FL, Jeffrey Leder of Comstock Park, Joel (Denise) Leder of Las Vegas, NV; 5 grandchildren, David Leder, Martin Leder, Sarah Corrigan, Jeremy Leder, Jody Leder; several nieces, nephews, and their children; and 5 great-grandchildren . She was preceded in death by her husband Arnold in 2005 and a sister, Gweneth Russher.

A celebration of Joan's life will take place on Sunday, June 12, 2022 at 12 noon at First Congregational Church UCC with Rev. Timothy VanderHaar officiating.
