Afendulis,
Theodore Peter
Muskegon, Michigan

Theodore Afendulis, age 80, passed away suddenly at home on Monday, October 4th 2021, in Muskegon, Michigan. He was born in Muskegon in 1941 to James and Sophia Afendulis, who were Greek immigrants. He was the youngest of three sons. He was a graduate of Muskegon High School and Muskegon Junior College.

His life's meaning did not depend on a career or calling. It was his roles as a son, brother, and uncle that defined who he was. Along with his brother Alex, he helped take care of both his mother and father through long illnesses at the ends of their lives. He and Alex were good companions to each other in their later years. His nieces and nephews were blessed to know him, and to understand and appreciate his unique personality. Especially as children, he was a source of joy and generosity for all of them. In his later years, one thing that was sure to put a smile on his face was seeing his great-nephew Costa and great-niece Eleni in action.

Theodore was devoted to his faith as a Greek Orthodox Christian. He was an active member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Muskegon. He had a beautiful singing voice that he contributed to the church choir. His family members always marveled at his ability to quickly understand how electrical and mechanical things worked. He enjoyed walks at the beach, old radio and television shows, and spending time with family. His knowledge and memory of his life growing up in the city of Muskegon seemed to know no bounds, and he often spoke of how great things used to be back then.

He was passionate in his ideals, especially about civil liberties, the environment, and support for those living in poverty. He carried with himself great concern about the state of the world, and it could be tough for him to see the bright side of things. His family will miss him dearly.
SURVIVORS
Theodore is survived by his nephews James Afendulis and Christopher Afendulis (Claudine Gay), niece Teresa Micheil (Richard), great-nephew Costa Gay-Afendulis, and great-niece Eleni Micheil. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Sophia Afendulis, his brother Deno Afendulis and sister-in-law Phyllis Afendulis, his brother Alex Afendoulis, and his niece Nikki Afendulis.

An environmentally friendly option

L Lyle and Carole Porter on Oct 7, 2021

We have lived next door for years and had a friendship with Ted and Alex. We are at a loss to have both pass so suddenly. They were unique, kind, caring men who we will miss. We send our condolences to all those who grieve their passing.
Together rejoicing in Heaven.

Teddy and I grew up together in the Greek community going to Greek School together and serving in the church on Sunday as alter boys. Sorry for his loss. May God rest his soul.

Ted was a sweet soul! He was caring, bright and engaging. God showed him mercy by having him join Alex in heaven! May his memory be eternal Life to the family!
