Zoe Wasson loved to experience and appreciate the world around her. She did many things in her life, all of which shaped her into the person her family and friends loved dearly. The year 1903 saw many new innovations coming about, like the first Harley Davidson motorcycle and the playing of the first World Series. It was also in this year that Louis and Dora Graff welcomed the birth of their daughter, Zoe, on December 17, 1903, in Shelby, Michigan. Zoe was one of three Graff children, and she enjoyed many childhood memories with her brother Dory and sister Lois. She married young and had one son , Richard L. Booth, of whom she was very proud of. It was unfortunate that the marriage to her son's father ended in divorce, however, when she was in her mid thirties she met the love of her life, Hal Wasson. Hal and Zoe married on January 1, 1939. Hal made his living as a musician in a band and even played with Lawrence Welk. Because of his profession, the family traveled quite extensively throughout the country, going from gig to gig. Zoe had a very comfortable and perhaps easy lifestyle. She always had a housekeeper and a gardener to help around the house and Hal loved to cook so she didn't have to be in the kitchen much. Two of Zoe's favorite pastime activities were trout fishing in New Mexico and crabbing in the gulf. Zoe lived in Corpus Christi, Texas until 1999, when she made the decision to move back to Michigan and live with her daughter-in-law, Barbara Booth of Grand Haven. When her health began to weaken, she move to Robbinswood Assisted Living Center for additional care. When she was no longer able to live in Robbinswood, she chose Shore Haven Nursing Home for her final days. Zoe endured 3 significant losses in her life. The death of her son, Richard Louis Booth in March of 1986, the death of her beloved husband Hal after 52 wonderful years of marriage in 1995, and the loss of a grandchild Richard Bennett Booth in April of 2005. She was also preceded in death by her parents, brother Dory and sister Lois. Zoe is survived by her daughter-in-law, Barbara Booth; and grand children Kathleen (husband John) Schmalz, Larry (wife Kim) Booth, and Vicky Booth; 5 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren along with MANY nieces and nephews. Special people in her life also included nieces Dareen Bouck of Owasso, MI; Cindy Burke and Kim Linner of Grand Rapids, MI.
