Yvonne Grace Hubbard 95, of Whitehall, Michigan, passed away on August 13, 2026, at Legacy of Caring in Whitehall. Born May 26, 1931, in Hesperia, Michigan, Yvonne was the daughter of Floyd and Thelma (Sederstrom) Sill. She was one of 4 daughters that grew up on their rural farm.
A proud graduate of Hesperia High School, Yvonne earned her teaching degree from Central Michigan University and later a Master's from Eastern Michigan University. She devoted roughly 4 decades to teaching elementary students (k-5), beginning in a one-room school house and spending most of her career at Whiteford Elementary School in Ottawa Lake, Michigan. Her love of learning and dedication to children touched generations of families.
Yvonne married Robert Hubbard "Bob" on December 19, 1953 and together they built a life rich in family, friendship and adventure. After retiring from the Toledo area, they settled in Whitehall in the late 1980's. Yvonne found joy in gardening, especially annual flowers and vegetables. She and Bob shared interest in auctions and estate sales. They would often find many collectible treasures. They both had a love for glassware. She loved to sew. Her favorite was creating Halloween costumes for her granddaughter each year. Yvonne and Bob traveled extensively, visiting all fifty states and enjoying cruises, including Alaska and Hawaii. Yvonne was a sports fan as well. You could find her and Bob in the stands supporting their daughters and granddaughter through high school and college sports. She was so proud of her Granddaughter's accomplishments in the theater too. She would never miss a performance. Yvonne was a good friend to her neighbors. She often hosted small parties for all of them , including a "Kentucky Derby" party , which they all enjoyed. A devoted Detroit Tiger's fan, she and Bob spent winters in Lakeland, Florida, following spring training; their home boasted a "Tigers Room" filled with pictures and autographs. She was also a member of White Lake Methodist Church and White Lake Women's Club.
Yvonne is survived by her daughters, Kathy and Karen; her Granddaughter Carly (fiance ' Thomas Holt); sisters Joan Tomillo and Irene "Kay" (Harry) Fleming; sister-in-law Mary Ellen Scott and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert and sister Norine Diamond.
In keeping with Yvonne's wishes , cremation has taken place and no formal services are planned. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice. The family extends a heartfelt thanks to the caregivers at Legacy of Caring and to all who supported Yvonne with kindness in her final months.
