Mr. Morris G. Witte, age 80, passed away Saturday evening, January 6, 2007, after fighting cancer for 3 years. He was born in Muskegon on May 11, 1926 to George M. and Clara (Mast) Witte. He grew up in Fremont, MI, attending several rural schools and Fremont High School. On September 3, 1948 he married the former Marjorie Ensing. Mr. Witte then served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He had worked at Shaw Walker until joining the Prudential Insurance Co., retiring in 1988 after 28 years of service as an Agent. He was a member of Grace Christian Reformed Church, a former member of East Muskegon Christian Reformed Church, where he had served as a deacon, and also had been a Board Member of Muskegon Christian School. All of his life he enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, golfing, and traveling. Mr. Witte also played softball on the East Muskegon Church League, pitching till the age of 60. Morris is survived by his wife, Marge of 58 years; 2 sons, Paul (Sharon) Witte of Muskegon, Douglas (Shelley) Witte of Grand Haven; daughter, Nancy (Greg) Wagenmaker of Muskegon; 7 grandchildren, Travis, Trisha, Lee, Noah, and Lucas Witte, Ryan and Jacob Wagenmaker; 2 brothers, Russ (Thelma) Witte, Howard (Eleanor) Witte both of Fremont; sister, Dorothy (Ed) Brown of Norwich, Connecticut; sisters and brothers-in-law, Arlene (Carl) Salacina of Newaygo, Shirley (Ed) Tubbergen of Florida, Keith (Marva) Ensing of Fremont, Joyce Houseman of Muskegon; former daughter-in-law, Mary (Steve) Smith of Muskegon; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters, Alma (Garret) Boes, Helen (Joe) Rottier, Mildred (Art) Vliem; and brothers-in-law, Jerry Dill, Irv Ensing, and Harold Houseman. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at The Sytsema Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. (231) 726-5210 with Rev. Marvin Wassink officiating. VISITATION with the family will be from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Tuesday. MEMORIALS may be given to Grace Christian Reformed Church or VNS-Hospice of Muskegon.
