Wilks, Winston Lee Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan Winston Lee Wilks, age 83, of Sault Ste. Marie, and formerly of Crossville, Tennessee and White Cloud, Michigan, passed away quietly on August 29, 2021. Winston was born in Muskegon, Michigan on June 1, 1938 to Clyde and Thressa Wilks. Winston graduated from Western Michigan Christian High School in 1956 and went on to enlist in the Marine Corps in 1958. While on leave in 1959, he met and married the former Betty Jane Morris on November 2, 1959. Winston completed his first degree in 1968 with a Bachelors Degree in Teaching from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo and followed with a Master's degree in counseling from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. Winston taught mathematics and physics for 25 years at White Cloud High School in White Cloud, Michigan. He also enjoyed coaching track, football, and basketball. He retired with Betty to Fairfield Glade, Tennessee in 1992. Winston was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing cribbage. He served many years as an elder and deacon at both Woodville Christian Reformed Church in Woodville, Michigan and First Presbyterian Church in Crossville, Tennessee and was instrumental in starting the Crossville Christian School. SURVIVORS He is survived by his beloved wife, Betty Jane, his children, Jeffrey (Darla Thompson) Wilks, Jennifer Wilks, Matthew (Sue Anne Cleary) Wilks, his grandchildren Jeffrey Wilks, Jessica (Charlie) Cantwell, Adam (Heather) Wilks, Aaron (Kandie) Wilks, and Allison Wilks, and his great grandsons Declan and Ryker Wilks. He is also survived by his brother, Charles Wilks, sisters, Leatha Hildebrandt, Mary Hoffman, and Sharon Locricchio. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Thressa Wilks, his brothers, Lyle and Clyde, his sister, Blanche, and his granddaughter Hannah Jane. CELEBRATION OF LIFE Friday, September 3, 2021, at Noon at Calvin Church with Pastor Andy Aikens officiating. Interment in East Dalton Oakhill Cemetery.
