Mrs. Wilma Ruth Nelson DeKuiper, age 96, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at White Lake Assisted Living in Whitehall where she had resided for the past three years. She was born in Muskegon, Michigan on March 15, 1919 to Eugene & Magnil (Mogren) Nelson. She graduated from Muskegon High School and married Donald DeKuiper on January 7, 1947. Mrs. DeKuiper worked at Berglund's Department Store. She also worked at Sears and Laketon Bethel Reformed Church as secretary. The majority of her married life, Wilma was a stay-at-home-mom. She enjoyed volunteering as a Girl Scout leader and in the Hackley Hospital Cherry Guild Gift Shop. Mrs. DeKuiper was a long time member of Laketon Bethel Reformed Church where she sang in the choir and was very active in the education programs well into her 90's. Wilma was an accomplished seamstress and also enjoyed needlework and ceramics. She loved many outdoor sports and especially enjoyed spending time at their cottage in Whitehall. A special thank you to Harbor Hospice, especially Char, Karen and Paula. Thank you also to the staff of the White Lake Assisted Living for their compassionate care. SURVIVORS She is survived by her children, Ruth (Bob) Tuttle, Dale (Deb) DeKuiper, Carol (Dave) MacDonald, Cathy (Rich) Golz; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald J. DeKuiper and her brothers, Stanley and LeRoy. MEMORIAL SERVICE Monday, July 6, 2015, 11:00 am and visitation one hour prior to the service at Laketon Bethel Reformed Church with Pastor Stacy Nelson officiating. Interment in Laketon Township Cemetery. MEMORIAL: Muskegon Rescue Mission or Harbor Hospice.
