William G.H. Smith

Mr. William G.H. Smith, age 96, died Monday, October 13, 2008. He was born in Liverpool, England on May 11, 1912 to William & Kate (Ekhart) Smith and married the former Pearl Empson on October 5, 1946. Mr. Smith had been employed at GTE until retiring in 1977. He was a member of Community United Methodist Church, Moose Lodge #491 and was very active in Boy Scouts of America. SURVIVORS Wife of 62 years, Pearl; 2 sons, Raymond (Anna Thomas) Smith of Tampa, FL, Keith Smith of Holt, MI; 4 grandchildren, Drew Goorie & Grant Smith, both of Tampa, FL, Jeffrey & Heather Smith, both of Holt, MI; 3 great grandchildren, Sydney, Preston & Gavin Smith; sister, Elsie McDonald of Canada; brother-in-law, Roy (Clare) Empson of Canada; several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, Harold Smith. SERVICE Friday, October 17, 2008, 11:00 AM at Community United Methodist Church with Rev. Robert Lynch officiating. Interment at Laketon Township Cemetery. VISITATION Thursday, 6-8 PM at Clock Life Story Funeral Home - Muskegon. MEMORIAL: Boy Scouts of America, Community United Methodist Church Building Fund, or American Red Cross.
