Mr. William "Bill" R. Rood, P.E., a Registered Professional Engineer, passed away June 13, 2018 at Hospice of North Ottawa at Heartwood Lodge. He was born May 27, 1930, to John and Anna Andersen Rood and was a resident of Muskegon. He graduated from Michigan State University where he studied Mechanical Engineering. He had been employed at Brunswick, Muskegon Piston Ring, Kaydon, and Frost Inc. Bill was a ''first generation'' American and proud of his Norwegian heritage. He was a member of the Vikings Lodge and served in several offices in the Sons of Norway. Bill was a member of St. Patricks Church. He always had a song in mind and one on his lips. He enjoyed singing barbershop quartet music of THE OLD SONGS with the Northsiders, the Merrimen, and the ParaDuets. Bill married Carol Ann Fredrickson in 1953, and Hazel DeRoo in 1986. They preceded him in death along with his daughter Michelle, and grandson Eric. In 1990 he married Judith Stoops and she survives him, along with 2 sons, Scott (Cynthia) of Norton Shores, MI; and Brian (Jessica) of Overland Park, KS.; and grandchildren John Rood, Michael Rood, Connor Rood, Grace Rood and Robert Rood. VISITATION & SERVICE Saturday, August 4, 2018, 12:00 Noon, with the service at 1:00 PM at the Clock Chapel-Muskegon on Peck Street. There will be a reception immediately following the service in the Clock Family Center. Interment at St. Marys Cemetery. MEMORIAL: Association for the Blind & Visually Impaired.
