CARPENTER, MR. WILLIAM R. Muskegon Mr. William R. Carpenter, age 79, died Wednesday, November 14, 2001. He was born in Muskegon, MI on June 1, 1922 to Henry & Alma Racette Carpenter & married the former Beverly Johnson on May 5, 1972. Mr. Carpenter had been employed as an Engineer & was the former Co-Owner of Medallion Instruments of Spring Lake until retiring in 1986. He attended Forest Park Covenant Church & was a life member of the Society of Automotive Engineers, was a past Commadore of the Mona Lake Boat Club, a former champion Hydroplane racer & held 17 United States Product Patents. He was an avid photographer & enjoyed woodworking, boating & was a true perfectionist. SURVIVORS Wife, Beverly; 1 son, Richard Cynthia Carpenter of Schoolcraft, MI; 2 daughters, Nancy Steven Doctor of Norton Shores & Laurel Ted Pitynski of Canton, MI; 2 stepsons, Terry Marcia Batchelor of Muskegon & Timothy Carmen Batchelor of Norton Shores; 1 stepdaughter, Penny DuPont of TX; 10 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Barbara Boucher of Muskegon & Vivian John Dobb of Walled Lake, MI; several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Geraldine Saum in 1971. SERVICE Saturday, November 17, 2001, 2:00 PM at Forest Park Covenant Church with Rev. Paul Bengtson officiating. Interment at Oakwood Cemetery. VISITATION Friday, 7-9 PM at Clock Funeral Home & one hour prior to the service at the church. MEMORIAL: The C.U.R.E. Foundation.
