William E. Combs

Mr. William E. Combs, age 73, of North Muskegon, passed away Monday, June 9, 2008 at Mercy Health Partners. He was born May 28, 1935 in Jackson, MI to the late William and Lillian (Hurd) Johns. Bill served our country during the Korean War in the United States Army and was a past member of VFW Post #3256. He retired from Muskegon Piston Ring. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, and had been a member of the Fox Lake Gun Club. He took great pride in being a master gardener. Bill is survived by his wife of 46 years of marriage, Sandra (Bates) Combs; three sons: Ken (Kathy) Combs of Tennessee, William Combs of Wisconsin, Doug Combs of Lakewood Club; two daughters: Dawn Combs of Cadillac and Amy (Mark) Dulik of Twin Lake; one brother, Terry (Helen) Curtis of Missouri; two sisters: Betty Martindale of Saginaw and Judy Reynolds of Jackson; half-sisters: Terry (Mike) Feller of Wellston, Marilyn (Bob) Haircharik of South Carolina, Abby Aurilio of Florida; half-brother, Bill (Carol) Johns of Florida; 17 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be Friday, June 13th at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 707 E. Alice St., Whitehall with Reverend Michael Kroll officiating. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ever Rest Funeral Home & Chapel, 1783 E. Keating Ave., Muskegon, and Friday at Faith Lutheran Church from 10 to 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hackley Visiting Nurse Service & Hospice or American Heart Association.
