William C. "Bill" White

Mr. William C. "Bill" White, age 80, passed away unexpectedly in the arms of his loved ones Friday, July 4, 2008 due to an accidental fall. He was born February 26, 1928 in Muskegon to Glenn and Marie (Green) White and had been a life resident. Mr. White was a 1947 graduate of North Muskegon High School and worked as a City of Muskegon Police Officer and Muskegon Twp. Fireman before retiring in 1988. He had many fond memories of growing up and spending time at his family's cabin on the Little Manistee River. He also enjoyed camping with his wife and children, spending time with his grandchildren, golfing, and going down to the fire barn for coffee after his retirement. Mr. White was a member of the F.O.P. Charles Hammond Lodge, past president of the former Moose Lodge, had been a Boy Scout leader for many years, and was a member of Unity United Methodist Church. On September 11, 1948, he married the former Vivian "Joyce" Nelson in Muskegon and they celebrated 56 years of marriage together, and she preceded him in death on November 30, 2004. Bill will always be fondly remembered by his joyous sense of humor and stories about his life and childhood. SURVIVORS include 2 children, William "Bradley" White of Muskegon, Luanne (Bruce) Bytwerk of North Muskegon; 7 grandchildren, William Benjamin and Bryan White, Benjamin, Bethany, Nicholas, and Noah Bytwerk, Brooke Cunningham; and was very close with the Nelson side of the family, especially Jean and Bob Nelson; and a cousin, Bernice Brown of Pentwater. He was also preceded in death by a beloved grandson, Aris Christopher White in 1991; 2 sisters, Eleanor Mahynski and Dorothy Karafa; and an infant brother. SERVICES will be 1:00 PM Wednesday at Unity United Methodist Church (1660 N. Getty) with Rev. Nancy Boelens officiating. Burial will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
