Vledder, Gladys E.

Mrs. Gladys E. Vledder, age 89, passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at a local nursing home. She was born Sept. 6, 1917 to Peter and Agnes (Olsen) Schaallema, and was a life resident of Muskegon. She had owned her own catering business. She had also worked at the YWCA and the Occidental Hotel. Mrs. Vledder also loved flowers and her gardening. On Feb. 8, 1936, she married Joseph Vledder and he preceded her in death on May 10, 1994. SURVIVORS include 5 daughters, Marilyn (Gus) Unseld III of Grand Rapids, JoAnn (Clarence) Ritsema of Fremont, Marva (late Charles) Paul of Fruitport, Marge (Vern) Rake, and Gerri Vledder, both of Norton Shores; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; son-in-law, Charles Paul; 3 sisters; and 1 brother. Private Services have already been held by the family. Family and friends are invited to join them for a memorial luncheon at Seminole Shores Living, 850 Seminole Rd., on Nov. 12th at 1:30 pm. MEMORIAL GIFTS to Harbor Hospice are appreciated.
