Virginia J. Shimp

SHIMP, MRS. VIRGINIA, J. Spring Lake Virginia J. Shimp, 78, of Spring Lake, MI, died Tuesday Jan. 4, 2005. She was born in Portland, MI Jan. 26, 1926 to Peter and Helen Fernholz Gensterblum and married Neil Shimp on Aug. 24, 1949. Before returning to Michigan in 1989 she resided in Urbana, IL for 31 years. Mrs. Shimp was a homemaker, a member of St. Patrick's Church of Grand Haven, the Tri Cities Historical Museum, and a former member of the Muskegon County Rock and Mineral Club. She also enjoyed gardening and boating and she made friends with everyone she met. SURVIVORS Husband, Neil; son, Dale Nancy Shimp of California; daughter, Audrey Shimp of Chicago, IL; 7 sisters, Elizabeth Huhn and Geraldine Hodge both of Portland, MI, Sister Bernita Marie Gensterblum S.S.J. of Nazareth, MI, Mary Louise William Hanses of Westphalia, MI, Eleanor Forest Peake of Portland, MI, Dolores Allen Houser of St. Johns, MI, Barbara Leon Densmore of Portland, MI; 3 brothers, Marvin Lois Gensterblum of Portland, MI, Robert Mary Gensterblum of Lansing, MI, and James Louise Gensterblum of Portland, MI. Mr. Shimp was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 5 brothers. SERVICE Friday, January 7, 2005, 11:00 AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Fr. Anthony Vainavicz officiating. Interment at Lakeshore Cemetery. VISITATION Thursday, 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Clock Funeral Home with a rosary at 8 pm with Sister Bernita Marie officiating.
