Virginia M. Olson

OLSON, MRS. VIRGINIA M. West Olive, MI Virginia Marilyn Serns Olson, of West Olive, died Thursday Dec. 16, 2004. She was born on May 19, 1928 in Milton Junction, Wisconsin. She was the youngest child of Allen and Violet Shadel Serns. She had an older brother, Bob and an older sister, Peggy. They lived on a dairy farm a couple of miles out of town. Jinny went to elementary and high school in Milton Junction, Wisconsin. She went to college in Berrien Springs, Michigan where she met Roy Olson. They married July 10, 1949, the summer after she graduated from college with a major in Music and a minor in English. They were blessed with two children, Suzanne Kay and Steven Roy. Later they added a loving daughter-in-law, son-in-law and five precious grandchildren. Jinny had a happy life with her husband, children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed her extended family of relatives and her many friends. She loved living near Lake Michigan , listening to birds, reading the Psalms and gathering her family for holidays. She was a faithful, believing Christian all of her life and died in the love of her risen Lord. She is survived by her loving husband, Roy; her children Suzanne Fleming and Steven Becky Olson and 5 grandchildren, Evan Fleming, Karin Olson, Krissy Olson, Kira Fleming, and Kari Olson. Also her brother Bob Pearl Serns, her sister, Peggy Orville Olson and three nephews. She was beloved by all and will be dearly missed. A Memorial Service will be held 1PM, Monday Dec. 20, 2004 at First Presbyterian Church, Grand Haven, with Rev.Karin Fowler officiating. Memorials may be given to International Aid, Inc.
