Virginia Holloway was a very special and talented woman who dedicated her life to her family. Always caring and thoughtful, she found great happiness in the simple pleasures of life. Her family was the center of her world, and she treasured every moment she spent in their company. Virginia was born in Grand Haven, Michigan, on November 21, 1920, to proud parents, Charles and Anna (McNamara) Grubham. She was one of eight Grubham children with five sisters and two brothers. Virginia came into the world during a new era of optimism. The Roaring 20s was a time of social and economic revolution, as the stock market soared and consumer goods, such as Henry Fords Model T, were being offered in mass quantities and affordable prices. Just a few years after World War II ended, a wonderful thing happened to Virginia she married the love of her life, Jay Holloway, and they raised seven children together. Virginia loved her family dearly, and considered them her greatest gift and blessing. She was a loving mother, who encouraged her children in their schooling and other activities. Virginia was active in 4-H and was also an excellent seamstress, which proved very useful with a large family. When it came to getting away, the family enjoyed packing up their camping gear and heading out to rough it for a while and commune with nature. Although Virginias life was full, it was also marked by great sorrow. She lost her beloved husband, Jay, in 1973, after 26 years of marriage. After some time, Virginias health began to fail. Sadly she passed on Sunday, October 21, 2007. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Virginia will be greatly missed and frequently remembered by her family. Virginia is survived by her daughters: Virginia (Steve) Herlein of Muskegon, Sandra Sova of Muskegon & Charlene (Jerry) Holloway-Nenis of Muskegon; stepchildren: Judy (James) Davenport of Muskegon, Gale (Tom) Brandt of CO & Jay Holloway of Wixom, MI; 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; many step-grandchildren & step-great grandchildren; and sister, Elise Smithson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay; stepson, Verlin Hollaway; brothers, Kenneth and Charles; and sisters: Mildred, Charlotte, Geraldine and Esther. A private family service will be held. Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to St. Judes or Wings of Mercy.
