FLEMING, MRS. VIRGINIA GARRISON Whitehall Mrs. Virginia Garrison Fleming, died peacefully at home surrounded by her children on Friday, April 1, 2005. Virginia was born January 12, 1922 in Cordell, Oklahoma to Grace and William Garrison, who moved with her to Muskegon during her early childhood. Virginia attended Muskegon Public Schools and received her bachelor's degree from Western Michigan University. Her adult life was devoted to teaching and learning. For over a quarter of a century, her wit, wisdom and intellect graced Montague Public Schools, where she taught both English and American history. She was a constant reader, passionate and talented gardener and an avid golfer. She was a member of the Montague United Methodist Church. After the death of Robert M. Fleming, Sr., her husband of nearly fifty years, she was fortunate to find new love and companionship in her second husband, Julian Szten. Julian's death in 2003 was a great loss for her and their families. SURVIVORS 6 children; 3 step-children; 12 grandchildren; five great grandchildren & a brother, James Garrison. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, husband Julian, beloved granddaughter, Bianca Fleming; her younger sisters, Dorothy Ann Dusseau, Nancy A. Ulmer & Marisue Panici.
