Mrs. Violet Marie "Vi" Gundy, age 89, passed away Monday morning, July 16, 2007 at her home in Norton Shores. She was born on November 19, 1917 in Botna, IA to Ernest and Edna (Bunch) Meyer and had been a resident of the Muskegon area for most of her life. Vi had been a banker for Comerica before retiring 26 years ago. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church for 72 years where she was still actively involved in the Isabelle Thoburn Circle and the UMW Bible Study. On June 29, 1947, she married Kenneth E. Gundy and he preceded her in death on August 25, 2005. She is survived by her very special cousin and caregiver, Barbara "Bambi" Walters; 2 step-daughters, Bonnie (Bob) Muttart and Carol (Larry) Kwolek; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way; nieces and cousins. She was also preceded in death by 1 brother, Vernon Meyer; 1 sister, Jean Provonche; and 1 grandson, Scott Berg. SERVICES will be 11AM Friday at Central United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Randall R. Hansen and Chaplain Jan Johnson officiating. VISITATION will be from 5-8PM Thursday at The Walburn Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. 231-759-8565 INTERMENT will be in Norton Cemetery. MEMORIALS in Vi's name may be made to Central UMC or to Hackley VNS Hospice.
