Viola Ruth Hier, 80, went to be with her Lord on Friday, June 13, 2008. She was born in Grand Haven on July 20, 1927 to Hilbrand and Margaret (VanderZwaag) Bol. She married Raymond Hornstra October 2, 1946. Vi and Ray were foster parents to many children, including David and Ruth whom they adopted. Ray passed away in 1982. In 1984 Viola married Nolan Galdeen. Nolan passed away in 1990. Vi married Joseph Hier in 1993. Joe passed away in 2006. Vi was a lifelong resident of Grand Haven and worked for many years in her father's grocery store, Jobbers Outlet. She managed Campers Paradise for a number of years and also served as bookkeeper at Betten's Southtown. Her hobbies include knitting and crocheting. She thoroughly enjoyed quartet music and traveling on guided bus tours. She was a member of Fellowship Reformed Church of Muskegon. She is survived by a brother, John (Marge) Bol of Sun City, Arizona; sister-in law, Shirley Bol and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Annette Baker and brothers, Peter Bol and James Bol. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 18 at Fellowship Reformed Church, 4200 E. Apple Ave. with Pastor Greg VanderMeer officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Tuesday at The Sytsema Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Avenue 231 726-5210 Memorial contributions can be made to Fellowship Reformed Church Women's Ministries.
