Vernon A. Leatherman

LEATHERMAN, MR. VERNON A. Grand Haven, MI Mr. Vernon A . Leatherman, age 83, died Tuesday, October 7, 2003 at North Ottawa Care Center. He was born in Muskegon, MI on July 21, 1920 to Orr & Ethel Biller Leatherman & married the former Phyllis Styx in 1943. He was a fighter pilot in the U.S. Air Corp in WWII & flew 75 combat missions, having also worked with General Dolittle. Mr. Leatherman had been the owner of Leatherman Auto Sales. He was a member of the American Legion, AARP & enjoyed golfing & puttering around, inventing & improving on things. Survivors: Wife of 60 years, Phyllis; daughter, Gale Larson of Mountain City, TN; grandson, Scott Reglin-Larson of Shady Valley, TN; 2 brothers, Glen Leatherman of Muskegon, MI & Darrell Teddy Leatherman of AL.
