Vern Kraai

Mr. Vern J. Kraai, age 85, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2015. He was born in Zeeland, MI on August 12, 1929 to Floyd & Winnie (Smith) Kraai and served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He married the former Betty Jane Buys on September 9, 1977 was a supervisor at Muskegon Construction. Vern was a member of Laketon Bethel Reformed Church, Don Rea Post 8846, Grand Haven American Legion, Muskegon Elks and Moose Lodge. SURVIVORS: Wife of 37 years, Betty Jane; son, Duane (Kathleen Meinders) Kraai; daughters, Terri Lynn (Kim) Jamison, Denise (Donald) Nelson; stepdaughters, Eileen (John) Schrader, Terri (Larry) Williamson, Kim (Ron) Miklosovic; stepson, Tom (Lynda) Schalk; 23 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; brothers, Dwight (Carol) Kraai, Frank Kraai; sister, LaVonne (Raymond) Elhart. He was preceded in death by his parents. SERVICE: Sunday, January 11, 2015, 3 PM with visitation one hour prior to the service at the Laketon Bethel Reformed Church with Rev. Dr. Sherwin Brantsen officiating. Military rights given under the auspices of Don Rea Post 8846. Interment in Laketon Township Cemetery. MEMORIAL: Hospice of North Ottawa. -
