Verley Calkins

Mrs. Verley M. Calkins, age 97, was welcomed into the arms of her Lord on Saturday, June 29, 2013. She was born in Muskegon, MI on April 25, 1916 to Arthur & Della (Schugars) Akins. Verley married John Calkins on August 29, 1936 and he preceed her in death after 64 years of marriage in 2000. Mrs. Calkins was a member of the Church of God United and wonderful homemaker and cook. She was a remarkable mother, grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. SURVIVORS Her children; Shirley (John) Ruffilo of Muskegon, Carol (Bill) VanDop of Spring Lake, John Calkins of Nunica, William (Marge) Calkins of Nunica; Many grandchildren, great-greandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband John in 2000, daughter Linda in 1997, son Thomas in 2008, a granddaughter Bridgette Smith and great-grandson Nicholas Cook. SERVICE Tuesday, July 2, 2013, 2:00 PM at Spring Lake Christian Reformed Church with Pastor Drew Sweetman officiating. Interment at Lake Forest Cemetery. VISITATION One hour prior to the service at Spring Lake Christian Reformed Church. MEMORIAL: Salvation Army.
