Mrs. Venice Y. King, age 89, formerly of Evanston Illinois, died peacefully at her home in North Muskegon on Wednesday February 28th, 2007. She was born on November 15th, 1917 to Flossie Goold Yergensen and Alphonzo Yergensen in Monroe, Utah. She graduated from South Sevier High School in Monroe in 1936. She married L. Carroll King of Marysvale, Utah on August 27th, 1937, and he preceded her in death. She attended Michigan State College in Lansing, Michigan and loved it. She had 5 children: William C. (Connie) King, Kathryn K. (Bruce) Gordon, Barbara King-Scott, John R. (Janice McDonald) King, and Richard A. (Lynn) King and they survive. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Kristin King, Sean King, Margaret Korosec, Seth Gordon, Gabriel Gordon, Rachel Scott, Michael Scott, Nathan King, Lafe King, Grant King, and Kimberly Harsch, and 9 great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful portrait artist and dressmaker, loved people, and enjoyed life. She said that she had a wonderful life, enjoyed having her family and many friends and was able to travel around the world, and that she was ready to go. Her body wore out, but she still brought love and joy to all of her family and friends until the very end. Words cannot begin to express all the thanks and gratitude that the family feels for the wonderful caretakers who provided her with such excellent care, allowing her to remain in the comfort of her home. A memorial service will be held in Salina, Utah this summer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hackley Visiting Nurses Hospice, 888 Terrace St., Muskegon, MI 49440.
