Velma Hubbard

Velma Hughes (Newsome) Hubbard was born August 21, 1934 and completed her celebration of life on July 4, 2009, her favorite holiday. Velma was the daughter of the late John Hughes and her stepfather, Rev. Ambers and Alberta Underwood of Sunflower, MS. She leaves 5 children to cherish her wonderful life and memories, Emma J. Vines (Muskegon), Jimmie L. Newsome (Rialto, CA), Joan Newsome (Muskegon) Yvonne F. Newsome-Smith (Dallas, TX), Mark A. Newsome (Shaon) (Calgary, AB); 10 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. She is survived by 1 brother and 3 sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters, and 5 brothers; and a host of relatives and friends. Visitation Thursday, July 9th from 2-7 PM (Toombs, 2108 Peck St. Muskegon Hts., MI 49444) Celebration of Life Friday, July 10th at 1 PM (Bethesda Baptist Church, 575 S. Getty Muskegon, MI 49441).
