Mr. Conroy, age 85, passed away Wed., Sept. 4, 2007. He married Thelma Smith on Nov. 30, 1946. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving as a tank commander under Gen. George Patton in the Battle of the Bulge and elswhere in the European Theater. Mr. Conroy was an iron worker for Locals 292 and 340. He was the general iron foreman in the building of Epcot Center at Disney World. He is survived by his wife, Thelma; children, Jean M. (Kenneth) Near, Monte R. (Gayla) Mitteer, Lonnie V. (Roberta) Conroy and Rex E. (Shirley) Conroy; his sister, Veva (Darroll) Herin; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Vera Huston, brother, Albert Conroy, two infant sisters and grandsons, Tracy Leonard Near and Aaron Mitchell Near. Visitation is Fri., 7-9pm at the funeral home and Sat., 10am at Elbridge Community Church. The funeral will follow on Sat., 11 am at the church. Interment: Elbridge Twp. Cemetery. Memorial: Elbridge Community Church or Friendship Wesleyan Church - N. Muskegon.
