Vanwyk, Robert

Mr. Robert W. "Bob" VanWyk, age 79, passed away Saturday morning, February 3, 2007. He was born May 25, 1927 in Grant, MI to Gerrit and Mary (Haglund) VanWyk and had resided in Muskegon for most of his life. Mr. VanWyk was a U.S. Navy Veteran as a Hospital Corpsman from 1949-1953. He worked for CWC Textron for 46 years before retiring in 1992. Mr. VanWyk was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church and a former member of Calvary Baptist Church for 42 years. He was an avid baseball fan, especially the Tigers, loved country music and his family. On August 29, 1951 he married the former Katie Lee Evans in Atlanta, GA and she survives him along with 2 sons, Gerrit "Gary" Lee (Theresa) VanWyk of Muskegon, Jonothan Paul (Nancy) VanWyk of York, PA; 4 grandchildren, Michelle (Jesper) Dinesen of Grand Rapids, Jennifer (Donald) Smallegan of Holland, Amy VanWyk of Muskegon, Nicholas Jon VanWyk of Grand Rapids; 2 step-grandchildren, Jenni and Eric Uzarski of Muskegon; 4 great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Cameron, and Abigail Smallegan and Maxwell Dinesen; many cousins and friends. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at Lakeside Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Fulk officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.
