Vance, Betty

Betty E. Vance, age 88, died peacefully at Brookhaven Medical Care Facility in Muskegon on October 10, 2006. She was born April 3, 1918 in Muskegon to George and Nellie (Young) Wilbur. She was raised in Hesperia and went to school there. Her family owned a store in Hesperia. They moved to Benton Harbor during her high school years. Mrs. Vance attended Muskegon Community College. She lived in St. Joseph until 1998 when she moved to Muskegon. She loved spending time with family and friends. Mrs. Vance is survived by her daughter-in-law, Kathy Vance of New Era; granddaughters, Stacey Vance of Wyoming, Michigan and Ashley and Amy Vance of New Era. She was preceded in death by her son, Errol Vance; her parents; her sister, Georgia Hurst and her longtime friend, Eddie Maas. Private family services are being held and burial will be in East Hesperia Cemetery.
