Valerie Ann Stewart

Mrs. Valerie Ann Stewart, age 70, of Muskegon, MI, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 25, 2024. She was born on September 1, 1954, in Muskegon, to Ray Brown and Pinky (Rice) Brown. Valerie was a proud graduate of Muskegon Heights High School, class of 1972, and later earned her Associate's Degree from Baker College (formerly Muskegon Business College).

On August 28, 1980, Valerie married the love of her life, Thomas Lee Stewart. She was employed for many years as a store clerk at Hills Department Store. Valerie enjoyed playing bingo and cherished the time spent with her lady friends playing cards. Her laughter and love for life were evident in the relationships she held dear.

Valerie is survived by her beloved husband of 44 years, Thomas Stewart; her mother, Pinky Brown; her children, Dalrecus (Yvette) Stewart, Terrance Stewart, and Thomas "Nick" Stewart Jr.; Bonus son; Kunta Braylock and her grandchildren, Shantierra Valentine, Breann Stewart, Dacia Stewart, Ashley Bennett, Terrance Stewart Jr., Alyssia Stewart, LaMora Stewart, Jaylen Stewart, and KeMari Stewart. She also leaves behind one great-grandchild, Ashlin Bennett. Valerie is also survived by her siblings, Elizabeth (Gary) Morris, Jeffrey (Faye) Brown, Crystal (Ronnie) Matthews, Tonette (Edward) Gardener, and Joseph Brown Jr. Brother in-laws; Major Stewart, Thurnell Stewart, Sister in-law; Rosemary Stewart.

A funeral service to honor Valerie's life will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024, at 12:00 Noon at Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. John L. Parker officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
