Walter E. Tyler, Jr. "Jay" passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2007. He was born on January 7, 1932 in Grand Haven to the late Geraldine and Walter Tyler, Sr. Jay is survived by his wife of 51 years, Verna (Boerema) Tyler, they were married on May 28, 1955. Also surviving are his four children, Eric (Kathleen) Tyler, Paulette (Robert) Bosch, Jeri Lynn Carter Tyler, and Julie (David) Smith; fourteen grandchildren, Amy, Nichole, Carrie, Rachael, Curtis, Brett, Jessica, Katie, Randi, Charlie, Gillian, Anna Olivia, and Mackenzie; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Kay Blakely; two brothers, John (Patricia), Dennis (Peggy); two sisters-in-law, Nancy Long, Patricia Boerema; several nieces and nephews; and his Bichon, Joee. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Toni (Michael) Jesse. Jay was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. serving during the Korean War, he was a life member of the VFW Post 446, and a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. He was a retired teacher from Fruitport Public Schools after 32 years of service. According to his wishes cremation has taken place, and a Memorial Service will be held at the Ever Rest Funeral Home and Chapel, on Thursday, January 25, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. followed by Military Honors by VFW Post 446.
