Townsend, Lois Joyce

Mrs. Lois Joyce Townsend, age 80, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2007, at a local nursing home. Lois was born February 20, 1926, to Carl Algott and Mabel (Olson) Danielson in Marquette, MI. She married George E. Townsend on December 20, 1947 in Marquette. They moved to Ravenna in 1950 and became members of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Lois worked as a teller at Old Kent Bank for 17 years prior to her retirement in 1981. She was a life member and past Matron of the Eastern Star, Ravenna Chapter and had been a gift shop volunteer at Muskegon General Hospital. On August 31, 2004, her husband George preceded her in death. Lois is SURVIVED by 3 daughters, Leigh Joyce (Michael) Wilson of Muskegon, Pamela Faye Townsend of Mackinaw City, Sue Ann (Mark) Champion of Scottville; 5 grandchildren, Gerri Creason, Melina Scott, Nathan Scott, Andrew Champion and Bethany Champion; 4 great grandchildren, Kira, Karek, Cody and Aubrey; a brother-in-law, John F. Townsend; a nephew, Michael Barrett; special friends, Herman Bear and family. In addition to her husband, Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Norman Danielson; and her sister, Ruth Barrett. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11AM, Saturday, February 10, 2007 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1006 Third St., with Father Dennis Remenschneider and Deacon Brad Allard co-officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service (10-11AM). In lieu of flowers, MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church or the Ravenna Community Education Fund.
