GIACOBASSI, MR. TILIO Muskegon Mr. Tilio Giacobassi, age 88, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 6, 2005 surrounded by his family. He was born in Cambria, OK on January 19, 1917 to Philip & Julia Giacobassi of Pietro Colora, Italy. Mr. Giacobassi grew up in Kincaid, IL, served for 3 years with the 6th Engineer Brigade in Europe during WWII and then received a BS and MS in education from Illinois State University. In 1948, he married the former Martha Beadles and they settled in Mansfield, IL, where he taught and was principal of the grade school for 10 years. In 1959, they moved to Muskegon, where over the next 23 years, he taught 6th grade at Froebel Elementary School, geography at Steele Jr. H.S., and then social studies at Muskegon High School. After retiring in 1982, Mr. Giacobassi remained active in the Central United Methodist Church and in the Muskegon community, volunteering with several organizations including the American Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, and the HOST reading program for elementary children. He enjoyed reading, dancing, and their summer residency at Lake Bloomington in IL, as well as baking breads and making Italian pastas. SURVIVORS He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Martha; 4 children, Julie Zach W. Hall of San Francisco, Michael Beth Wilkinson Giacobassi of Milwaukee, Daniel Giacobassi of Muskegon, Jane Rick Okada of St. Paul, MN; 7 grandchildren, Genna Giacobassi of San Francisco, Cesira Giacobassi of Lansing, MI, Mario, Dante & Gina Giacobassi of Milwaukee, Kellen Okada of St. Paul, MN, Kristin Okada of AZ; 2 great granddaughters, Hayden Blaze Giacobassi Ambler of Lansing, Tyla Okada Bastian of AZ; 2 sisters, Edith Basil of Ramsey, IL and Lucille Sidock of Chicago; 2 sisters-in-law, Verla Romagnoli of Taylorville, IL and Mary Giacobassi of Detroit. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph Giacobassi of Detroit and Hugo Romagnoli of Taylorville, IL. MEMORIAL SERVICE Saturday, April 9, 2005, 11:00 AM at Central United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Randall R. Hansen officiating. VISITATION Friday, 7 - 9 PM, at Clock Funeral Home and Saturday, one hour prior to the service at Central United Methodist Church. MEMORIAL: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Central United Methodist Church of Muskegon, American Red Cross, or Hospice of Muskegon Oceana. Clock - Muskegon
