Mr. Thomas Ellsworth Carlson, age 76, was a kind, patient, loving person. He passed away Saturday, March 11, 2017. He was born in Muskegon, Michigan on February 10, 1941 to Walter & Mary Carlson and graduated from Muskegon Catholic Central in 1959 and earned a degree in aeronautical engineering from the University of Michigan. Tom served his country in the US Army, then went on to work for various companies such as Honeywell and Howmet. He also earned a degree in writing from the University of Minnesota. Tom was a local historian and wrote the book "Sawdust Fires" and the booklet "Western Avenue" as well as, the blog "MuskegonMemories.com". He also had a woodworking shop and made wood toys. SURVIVORS Wife, of 26 years, Kay; brother, Joel (Brigiette) Carlson; nephews, Paul Carlson, Peter (Sara) Carlson and their daughter, Rebecca; niece, Lisa (Joe) Ferraro and their daughter, Elena. He was preceded in death by his parents. SERVICE Saturday, March 18, 2017, 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior to the services at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Fr. Matthew Barnum officiating. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery. MEMORIAL: In lieu of flowers please consider giving to St. Mary's Catholic Church or Muskegon Catholic Central School.
