Therese Smith

Mrs. Therese Marie Smith, age 88, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2016. She was born in Muskegon, Michigan on September 17, 1927 to Francis & Cecilia (LaRocque) Martin and married Fred Smith on February 14, 1972. Mrs. Smith had been employed for Dr. Sahlhoff and Dr. Barnes' offices as a medical assistant until retiring in the late 1980's. Therese was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 3256. She founded the West Michigan Chapter of SIDS, sang in the Montague Show Boat and volunteered at Christ the Rock Food Pantry. Her loving spirit will be greatly missed. SURVIVORS Son, Jack (Marla) Bosch of Grant; daughters, Kathryn DeVette of Montague, Ruth Wildey of Hart, Sharon (Al) Dodge of Rothbury, Patricia (Peter) Brown of Shelby; 14 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren; brothers, Joseph (Kathy) Martin, Don (Mariann) Martin, Dan Martin; sisters, Ruth Stevens, Mary (John) Allen, Suzanne (Charlie) Brown; sister-in-law, Peggy Hanson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred in 2002; son, Greg Bosch in 2011; siblings, Robert, Thomas and Joan. SERVICE Friday, February 5, 2016, 11:00 am at St. James Lutheran Church in Montague with Rev. John Brooks officiating. Interment in Oak Grove Cemetery. VISITATION Thursday, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm & 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Clock Funeral Home - Muskegon & Friday, one hour prior to the service at St. James Lutheran Church.
