Therese "Terry" Ann Hennessy, age 73, of Fruitport, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Monday, July 6, 2026.

Born in Chicago, Illinois on September 21, 1952, to Edward and Mary (McDonald) Hennessy, Terry was a savvy, independent, and resilient woman known for her sharp mind. Raised in a lively household, she cherished memories of shared meals and the close bonds of a full family. Terry dedicated her life to caring for others as a registered nurse. She was a graduate of Monsignor O'Brien High School in Kalamazoo, earned her bachelor's degree from Aquinas College, and received her nursing degree from Saint Mary's Hospital in Grand Rapids. Her distinguished career included positions at Butterworth Hospital and a decade of transformative leadership as the Director of Nurses at King Fahd National Guard Hospital in Saudi Arabia from 1989 to 2000. Her time abroad fueled a passion for travel, especially her experiences in Egypt.

Terry was the beloved wife of the late Jerry Ashendorf, who preceded her in death in 2013.

She was the cherished eldest sister and will be deeply missed by her seven siblings: Michael (Nancy) Hennessy (her "favorite brother"), Patricia Hennessy (Douglas Fisher), Daniel (Theresa) Hennessy, Molly (Andrew) Howard, John (Maureen) Hennessy, Cathleen Hennessy Beach (Charles Bower), and Elizabeth "Liz" Hennessy-Byers (James Byers). She is also survived by her son, Jeremy (Kerri) Ashendorf; three adoring granddaughters, Maddie, Alex, and Jaelyn Ashendorf; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In keeping with Terry's wishes, no services will be held. Cremation has taken place, and her ashes will be joined with those of her beloved late husband, Jerry. The family has chosen to honor her memory privately. In her memory, donations of clothing may be made to Muskegon Rescue Mission to support women and children in the local community.
