HAMANN, MRS TESSIE A. Grand Haven Mrs. Tessie A. Hamann, age 90, died Wednesday, June 9, 2004. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 24, 1913 to Frank & Stella Karnowski Reinert and married Walter F. Hamann August 18, 1934. He preceded her in death July 9, 1979. They lived in Chicago until moving to Cornucopia, WI in 1958. She moved to Pinewood Place Apartments in Grand Haven in 1986 to be near family, where she lived independently until Memorial Day. She was proud of her Polish heritage, loved helping family and friends, sharing her baking, especially cookies, taking and sharing photos, traveling, gardening, including drying the flowers she grew and making greeting cards from them, she also enjoyed birds and making and teaching crafts. Tessie was instrumental in starting the Sunday Harbor Transit Church transportation. She brought the first piece of preserved underwater wood from Ashland, WI to the Tri-Cities Historical Museum. She had still been employed as a secretary even into her 80's. SURVIVORS 2 daughters, Betty Patrick Clark of Grand Haven and Phyllis Loron Shaver of Staten Island, NY; a son, William Pamela Hamann, Virginia Beach, VA; sister, Sister Timothea, CR, of Chicago, IL; granddaughters, Caryn Helmer of Sparta, MI and Julie Anthony DeSanto of Newbury Park, CA; great grand children, Lindsey and Alexandra Helmer of Sparta, MI, Allegra, Nolan and Talia DeSanto of Newbury Park, CA; and Nicholas Fenlon of Bayonne, NJ; sister in law, Evelyn Hamann of Chicago IL; many cousins, nieces and nephews and other extended family. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Hamann, parents, 2 brothers, 2 sisters and granddaughter Erika Shaver Fenlon. SERVICE Monday, June 14, 2004, 10:00 AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Fr. William Langlois officiating. Interment at Cornucopia, Wisconsin.
