Terry Marvin Smith

Terry Marvin Smith, age 63, of Muskegon, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2026, at his home after a long and courageous battle with multiple health issues.

Terry was born on November 26, 1962, in Muskegon, Michigan, to Francis and Madelyne (Morrall) Smith. A graduate of Orchard View High School, Terry proudly served his country for six years in the U.S. Army. He served as a tank commander in a tank battalion, and his time in the military, particularly his service on the Czech border during the Chernobyl incident, had a profound impact on his life.

Following his military service, Terry worked in construction and automotive fields before finding a role he cherished at Mona Shores High School through Reliant Cleaning Services. In his janitorial and maintenance position, he was beloved by students and staff for his tireless work ethic and helpful nature. Outside of work, Terry enjoyed collecting coins and spoiling all of his nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his loving mother, Madelyne Smith; his siblings, Darlene Smith, Denise Smith, David (Gabie) Smith, Bradley (Janet) Smith, Sharon Smith, and Kathy (Dan) Eslick. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Terry was preceded in death by his father, Francis Smith, and his siblings Donald Smith, Dennis Smith, Doug Smith, and Deborah Winn.
