Tasha Lynn Banks

Tasha Lynn Banks, age 37, of Muskegon, passed away on August 7, 2026.

Born on April 19, 1989, in Muskegon to Charles D. Banks and Toni Verschueren, Tasha was a bright and adventurous soul with a passion for learning, nature, and exploration. A proud graduate of Muskegon High School's Class of 2007, where she shone as a member of the homecoming court, she continued her education with great ambition, earning degrees from Michigan State University and a Northeastern University in Chicago.

Her love for culture and new experiences led her to travel the world. Tasha spent a year living and teaching English in China, a time she spoke of with great fondness. Her travels also took her to Japan, and on hiking trips to Germany and Thailand. She was a free spirit who found joy on the beach, in the woods, and along quiet paths where she loved to take long walks.

Locally, Tasha dedicated her time to her community, working at the Boys and Girls Club of Muskegon, where she helped develop programs for children. Above all her accomplishments, Tasha's greatest love was her daughter, Norah. She cherished every moment spent with her, and her world revolved around Norah.

She will be remembered for her sharp intellect, her vibrant personality, and the deep love she had for her family.

Tasha is survived by her beloved daughter, Norah Rae Louise Grissom; her parents, Toni Verschueren and Charles D. Banks; her siblings, Kendra Banks, Charles Banks, Ashanti Collins, and Bridget Collins-Phillips; grandfather James Verschueren She also leaves behind a large and loving family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Ellen Verschueren, Louise Banks; Grandfather Sylvester Banks; Godmother Jerri Collins.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
