Gansz,

Susan Irene

Muskegon, Michigan

Susan (Schotts) Gansz, age 70, of Muskegon, Michigan, succumbed to emphysema/COPD on Friday, October 20, 2023. She was born on August 21, 1953, in Fremont, MI, to Dale J. and Jeannette I. Schotts. Susan grew up in Muskegon, Michigan, and attended Reeths-Puffer schools, graduating in 1971. She left Michigan to develop her future and was drawn to the U.S. Army in January 1972, not returning home to Michigan, except to visit, until 2010. Susan was honorably discharged from the Army in October 1976, with a husband and a four-week-old son. Although she would not have characterized herself as adventuresome, Susan did enjoy finding fulfillment in life in unusual ways and places. She worked in a variety of areas, from landscaping care and drafting, to massage therapy, and also as a church secretary. On her bucket list was a parachute jump (one time only!) and training to become a Brown Belt in Isshin-Ryū Karate. Her favorite proverbs were, "Thou Shalt Not Whine, " and "Bloom Where You're Planted." Susan strove in her love for the Lord to emulate Him by her continual efforts to help others in need.

SURVIVORS

Surviving Susan are her son, Jeremy L. Gansz of Muskegon, MI, brothers, Leonard Schotts of Pinckney, MI, and Dale E. Schotts (wife, Susan) of Dexter, MI, sister, Sandy Barnhart of Muskegon, MI, nieces Misty, Kristen, Janell, and Lisa, and nephews Ben, Steve, David, and Daniel. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale J. and Jeannette I. Schotts, and niece, Amanda.
