Stella M. Shunta

Mrs. Stella M. Shunta, age 95 passed away late Sunday afternoon at the Harbor Hospice-Poppen House following a brief illness. Stella was born on December 26, 1912 in Logansport, IN the 3rd of 7 children to Victor and Marcella (Megis) Macheta. As a young lady, the family moved to Muskegon. She married Mr. Rudolph V. Shunta in Sacred Heart Catholic Church on February 5, 1938. Rudy preceded her in death on June 27, 1995. Stella was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a member of the Altar Society, volunteered for the food pantry and served on the lunch committee for many years. Stella is survived by: three loving sons, Rudolph C. (Judy) Shunta, Richard F. (Norma) Shunta both of N. Muskegon and Daniel R. (Pam) Shunta of Twin Lake; five grandchildren, Sue, Greg, Lynnea, Mandy and Michael and great-grandson, Ryan. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 5, 2008, Fr. Thomas J. Brown presiding. Visitation with the family will be held at: The Lee Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 Wednesday, 6-8 P.M. with the Rosary prayed at 6:30 P.M. She will be laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery. Memorial contributions: Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Harbor Hospice.
