Sherwood Reynolds Gould was born on August 17, 1910 in Ludington to the late Brock S. and Julia A. (Larsen) Gould. On June 27, 1941 he married Marjorie A. McDonald in Ludington. He was a member of the CCC for 2 years, and was a Naval Veteran of World War II. Shorty worked as a meat cutter for several area Supermarkets, retiring from Plumb's Markets in 1975. He helped organize and served as an officer in Plumb's Credit Union. He greatly enjoyed the outdoors, as a gardener & an avid deer hunter and fisherman. He loved old style County-Western Music and played both guitar and bass in a local country band and also called for square dances in his day. He was a Golden Age Eagle in the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Muskegon Heights. Survivors include his wife Marjorie; daughter, Sharon (Charles B.) Gould, son, Larry (Marva) Gould; five grandchildren, Gregory (Linda), Christopher (Jill), Gavin, Dana (Steve) Groothuis and Timothy; two step-grandchildren, Dana Nousain and Robin (Martin) Stromberg; four great-grandchildren, Marissa & Bradley Groothuis, Holly and Casey Gould; two step-great-grandchildren, Ashley Nousain and Cody Stromberg; three nieces in Ludington, MI and a nephew in Springfield, Mo. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy and a brother, Matthew. Funeral services will be held at the Ever Rest Funeral Home and Chapel, 1783 E. Keating Ave. on Saturday, December 29, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Hackley Visiting Nurse Service and Hospice or NSOA/Meals on Wheels of Muskegon.
