Sharon Rae Gould was born in Muskegon, Michigan on October 8, 1953 to Raymond & Marcie (Doctor) Sturgis. Sharon grew up in Muskegon and was a graduate of Orchard View High School. She learned to be a Cake Decorator while working at Coles Bakery eventually going to work in the bakery at Meijers where she decorated cakes for nearly 25 years. Sharon would even go on to teach her daughter how to decorate cakes. In the late 1970s she met Duane Gould and they soon started dating and fell in love. The two of them married on January 27, 1979 and together they had two children, Damien and Danielle. Sharons contagious laugh was as comforting as it was reassuring that everything would always be alright. By the way her eyes squinted slightly when she smiled anyone could tell this woman was full of mirth. Sharon had a light about her that would shine on others and brighten any room she walked into. She was a kind hearted soul and proud of the two children she raised; Damien and Danielle. On special occasions she enjoyed treating her children to dinner and drinks at a local restaurant. When the whole group would show up Sharon would be at the center of the conversation, tossing in her familiar laugh as the jokes rolled around the table. Even when there were people present that she didnt know too well she would introduce herself with a hearty hello, before settling back to take a sip of her Diet Coke. Sharon was an avid animal lover, especially dogs. She and her son Damien ran a dog breeding business out of their home for several years. When they werent selling puppies they were watching their favorite television shows together. She loved visiting with friends or her daughters family, her new son-in-law, Joe VanHassel. She was absolutely thrilled to be a grandmother to her new granddaughter, Ashlyn VanHassel, who lit up her life. Sharon was known to spend hours on the phone talking to her friend Brenda. She also loved going out to breakfast with other friends and gallivanting about town. Unfortunately, Sharon lost most of her eyesight due to diabetes but she never seemed to let it get her down. She always took things in stride. She was a strong woman and a wonderful mother. Her smile and her warm personality will be greatly missed Mrs. Sharon Rae Gould, age 62, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016.
