Selma May "Sally" Fohlbrook, age 88, passed away at the Poppen House, surrounded by family on February 21, 2024 following a very courageous battle with renal failure and four years of dialysis. She was born in Muskegon, MI on October 28, 1935 to Fred & Ida (Johnson) Dalrymple. Sally was number five in a family of six children. She grew up in Muskegon and graduated from Muskegon High School in 1953, where her favorite activity was playing the flute in the very famous Muskegon High School Marching Band.
She met the love of her life, John Fohlbrook, while working as a legal secretary for attorney John Piercey. Sally and John married on November 12, 1955 and were together for 60 years. In addition to raising a family of four children, Sally was an accomplished artisan with her various hand-working hobbies, including knitting, quilting, felting and beadwork jewelry. Together John and Sally were "winter Texans" for nearly two decades, where they enjoyed great friends and a busy social calendar with their Cavalier Spaniels Charley and Parker.
SURVIVORS
Sally is survived by her children; Kim Marie (Doug) Wood, William John (Vicky) Fohlbrook, Mark (Ronda) Fohlbrook. Kris Anne (Scott) Sherman, grandchildren Gabrielle, Aimee (Randy Jr.), Matt, Liz (Ben), Audra (Justin), Alecia (Scott), William (Kendra), John and Robert; several great-grandchildren and her beloved best friends Roxanna Herder, Juanita Joiner and Betty Ross.
Sally was preceded in death by her husband, John; sisters Betty (Art) Eakin, Lois (William) VanderSys, Arlene (Casey) Mieczkowski, Ida Janice (Doug) Smith and brother Robert (Joyce) Dalrymple.
