Hildaige "Jerry" Savoie, our loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, February 7, 2007. He was born May 12, 1919, in Dryburg, MI to Joseph and Alexina (Gonyo) Savoie. He married Helen Mayer, in Rudyard, September 30, 1939. Jerry and his brothers were co-owners of Dafter Construction Co. Following his retirement in 1982, he and Helen moved to Whitehall. They owned and operated Frenchies Bayou Trout Pond. Jerry was a veteran of World War II where he earned the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He was a Life member of Knights of Columbus, a member of Algot Johnson American Legion Post #69 and a member of Montague-Whitehall Lions Club. He was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church in Montague and formerly attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sault Ste. Marie. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Rolland, Ben, Andrew and Francis Savoie, and one sister, Germaine Rose. FAMILY: He is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Helen; two sons, Joseph Richard "JR" Savoie of Whitehall and Marcel (Cathy) Savoie of Littleton, CO; one daughter, Verona "Roni" (John) Huizenga of Twin Lake; eight grandchildren, Kristin (Dana) Mcgrew, Karey (Gus) Parling, Kurt (Jennifer) Huizenga, Jason (Nicole) Savoie, Angelina (Richard) Bauer, Lenard Savoie, currently on tour with the US Army in Iraq, Jarrett Savoie and Justin Savoie; eight great-grandchildren; his sister, Annette (Harold) Rath of Drafter; many nieces and nephews. FUNERAL LITURGY: Saturday, February 10, 2007 at 11:00 AM from St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Phil Witkowski presiding. A ROSARY will be recited Friday, 7 PM, at the funeral home in Whitehall. Military Graveside Rites will be conducted at the church by Algot Johnson American Legion Post #69. VISITING HOURS: Friday, 5-8 PM, at the Clock Funeral Home in Whitehall. DONATIONS: Building Fund of St. James Catholic Church, 5179 Dowling St., Montague, 49437.
