Samuel Hammond Iii

Samuel W. Hammond III, age 49, died Tuesday, July 17th after a battle with cancer. He spent his final days surrounded by his loving family and friends at Mercy Hospital in Muskegon, MI. Sam was born on January 11, 1963 to Samuel and Lynne (Mitchell) Hammond. He graduated from Spring Lake High School in 1981 and Grand Valley State University with a BS in Public Administration. Samuel had been self employed as a carpenter. He attended Nortonville Gospel Chapel and was a member of North Pier Fisherman. Sam enjoyed woodworking, fishing and was a custom knife maker. SURVIVORS Parents, Samuel and Lynne Hammond; sisters, Jacqueline (William) Kooi, Dana Hammond, Angelique (Brian) Oaks; nieces & nephews, Blake, Travis and Arialle Kooi, Jacob, Kaitlynne, Matthew and D.J. Dempsey and Avery Oaks. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Rhonda and Kim.
