Ruth Wiswell

Mrs. Ruth J. Wiswell, age 83, passed away at her home Wednesday, January 11, 2017. She was born in Shelby, Michigan on January 26, 1933 to Gerald & Shirley (Ego) Cleveland and married Garth Wiswell on February 3, 1951. Mrs. Wiswell had been active in her community. She was the Fruitport Village Treasurer for a time, worked on elections for many years and helped her husband in establishing and operating the Wiswell Funeral Home in Fruitport. Ruth was a talented artist, active golfer, card player, and had many friends and a large social circle. She was a member of Fruitport Congregational United Church of Christ, sang in the choir and was active in the Women's Fellowship group. She will be greatly missed. SURVIVORS Daughters, Dr. Denise Wiswell of Fruitport, Christine Wiswell of Fruitport; son, Scott Wiswell of Fruitport; brothers, Walter (Judy) Cleveland of Escondido CA, Paul (Retta) Cleveland of Sarasota FL; numerous nephews and a niece; sisters-in-law, Wilma Loughmiller of Shelby and Dorothy Wiswell of Shelby. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Garth in April; her parents; a niece, and a sister-in-law. SERVICE Monday, January 16, 2017, 11:00 am at Fruitport Congregational United Church of Christ with Rev. Kenneth Babcock officiating. Interment in Mount Hope Cemetery. VISITATION Sunday, 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm and Monday, one hour prior to the service at Fruitport Congregational United Church of Christ. MEMORIAL: Fruitport Congregational UCC Memorial Fund.
