Mrs. Ruth Eleanor Kantola-Paul, age 96, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023. She was born in Muskegon, MI on September 26, 1926, to Clayton & Gladys (Gilbert) Johnston and married her first husband Arnold Kantola on November 9, 1946, and after his passing in 2007, married Pastor William Paul on February 14, 2009. Mrs. KantolaPaul was mostly a homemaker after previously being employed by the Michigan Secretary of State Office and the Muskegon County Extension Office. She also served as a bus driver for Sullivan Community Church Vacation Bible School and the Reeths Puffer School System, and taught Child Evangelism before retiring. Ruth was a very active member of Calvary Memorial Church where she sang in the Calvary Quartet and taught Bible studies. Mrs. Kantola-Paul exercised her gift of hospitality over the years, frequently receiving people in need of lodging as guests in her home. Ruth also enjoyed traveling and made numerous trips throughout the US and Europe.

Sons, Arland (Susan) Kantola of Muskegon, MI, Troy (Sharon) Kantola of Whitmore Lake, MI; daughter Sharon (Erich) Schenk of Williamsburg, VA; daughter-in-law, JoAnn Kantola of Muskegon, MI; niece Martha Jane (Les) Webb of Twin Lake, MI; grandchildren, Stephanie Schenk, Jennifer (Ryan) Vaughn, Yannick (Natasha) Schenk, Brook (Heith) Baker, Ryan Kantola, Alex Kantola, Kyle Kantola, Cameron Kantola, Brandon (Allison) Kantola, Chad (Heather) Kantola, Corey Kantola; 13 great grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husbands; Son Joel Kantola brother Ralph Johnston; sister, Helen Helm.

Mrs. Kantola-Paul welcomed three young Vietnamese men into her home and family; Hung Nguyen of Carrollton, TX, Hung Luc of Los Angeles, California and Long Kantola of Garden City, Kansas (deceased).

SERVICE

Saturday, April 15, 2023, 11:00 AM at Calvary Memorial Church with Rev. Jeffery A. Dunn officiating. Interment in Laketon Twp Cemetery at a later date.

VISITATION
