Ruth Natalie

Grand Haven, Michigan

Ruth Natalie (Krugler) Brockopp was united with Christ through Holy Baptism and being confident of the resurrection to eternal life entered her eternal home on July 26, 2024.

Ruth was born on November 5, 1927 to William and Florence Krugler. Ruth's faith was nourished in a Christian family and by the support of Christian schools and faithful attendance at worship services. In her youth, she enjoyed singing in the church choir and being active in the church youth group. When she graduated high school, she began working and continued her education attending evening school in a business college. After WWII, her bother who was attending Concordia Seminary, introduced her to another student, Elroy (Roy) Brockopp who later became her husband on June 11, 1949. Interestingly, three of her four brothers became ministers in the Lutheran Church.

Roy's first assignment out of the seminary was in Marshfield, Wisconsin where their first child Judy was born. During their two moves to Coldwater, Michigan and Grand Rapids, Michigan, they were blessed with three more children Karen, Jim and Beth. Ruth always enjoyed caring for her children and the fellowship of the congregation, always staying busy with church choir, teaching Sunday School and serving on many church committees. She put her business schooling to good use, working for many years at a bank in the loan department and was a staff person on the Council of Lutheran Churches in St. Louis. Roy and Ruth loved camping, biking, hiking, swimming, traveling and watching St. Louis Cardinal Baseball games. Many trips were made to Chicago to visit family and see the sites Chicago had to offer. Upon her retirement, many trips were made to Florida using their trailer. Dance lessons and Friday night dancing were also a highlight.

On June 11, 2024 Ruth and Roy were happy to celebrate their 75th wedding anniversary with family and friends at in their new home at Village of the Pines, Grand Haven Michigan. She is survived by her husband Roy, children Judy (the late Ron) Lovatt, Karen (David Hammer), Jim (Kathy Hrastar) and Beth (Andy) Paris, nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Ruth's kind and compassionate personality touched the hearts of many people. She will be deeply missed.
