Mr. Russell James Ronning, age 86, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2014. He was born in Montpelier, OH on January 19, 1928 to Earl & Bernice (Pomeroy) Ronning and married the former Edith Mathews on April 19, 1947 in Fremont, MI. Russ had been a Barber for 61 years operating Russell's Barber Shop until retiring. Russ was a ham radio operator and a member of the Muskegon Area Amateur Radio Council. He also was a member of McGraft Memorial Congregational Church and the Newaygo Masonic Lodge #131 and Eastern Star. SURVIVORS Wife of 67 years, Edith: sons, Richard (Deb) Ronning, Paul (Pam) Ronning both of Muskegon; five grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; brother, Earl Ronning of Jackson; daughter-in-law, Cathy Ronning; stepmother, Nettie Ronning of Hardy Dam; stepbrother & stepsisters. He was preceded in death by a son, Al Ronning; grandson, Jonathan Ronning; great grandson, Isaac Ronning; and a granddaughter-in-law, Brenda Ronning. SERVICE Thursday, August 28, 2014, 11:00 AM at the Clock Chapel - Muskegon with Rev. Elaine Lutz officiating. Interment in Big Prairie Cemetery in Newaygo. VISITATION Wednesday, 6:00 PM-8:00 PM at Clock Funeral Home - Muskegon. MEMORIAL: Hospice of Michigan.
