Russell Hendrick

Mr. Russell A. Hendrick, age 82, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2011. He was born in Muskegon, MI on July 23, 1928 to William & Leone (Dingman) Hendrick and served his country in the US Army during WWII and active in Indian Affairs. Russell married the former Laurel McPherson on June 10, 1951. Mr. Hendrick had been an Administrator at Michigan Dept. of Social Services for 30 years until retiring in 1988. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Grand Haven, served as an Elder of the Alpena, Lansing & Grand Haven Presbyterian churches and past president of the Cameron Foundation. Russell was an outstanding leader who enjoyed volunteering at his church, woodworking, gardening and flying. He will be greatly missed. SURVIVORS Wife of 59 years, Laurel; son, Thomas Hendrick of Lambertville, MI; grandchildren, Kaylee, Drew, Mitchell & Daniel Hendrick; brothers, William Hendrick of CA, Clieve (Maxine) Hendrick of Muskegon; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Laurie Hendrick; sister, Joyce Brubaker and brother, Duane Hendrick. SERVICE Saturday, February 19, 2011, 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church of Grand Haven with Rev. Dr. Thomas Cook and Rev. Patricia Locke officiating. Interment at Lakeshore Cemetery. VISITATION Saturday, 1 hour prior to the service at the church. MEMORIAL: First Presbyterian Church or Alzheimers Association.
